Class Size Reduction Grant
We are pleased to inform you that our school has been allocated 1 additional teaching position for the 2026–27 school year through the Government of Alberta’s Class Size Reduction Grant.
This grant funds teaching positions that support improved learning conditions in kindergarten to Grade 9 classrooms.
This funding is specifically intended to help reduce class sizes in core subject areas (English Language Arts/French Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies), with priority given to schools experiencing the greatest class size pressures.
This decision was made using system-wide data that considers:
- The number of classes exceeding provincial class size benchmarks
- Projected enrolment and class organization
- School programming and grade configuration
Our goal is to ensure students benefit from:
- Increased teacher attention
- Improved classroom learning environments
- Greater support for diverse learning needs
We remain committed to supporting strong learning environments for all students and using our resources thoughtfully and strategically.
BPS' Last Blast - June 25, 2026
This year, our Last Blast will be held on Thursday, June 25th from 12:30-2:45pm. Our afternoon consists of a variety of sport and activity stations around our campus run by Parent Volunteers. The afternoon will be organized by a committee of teachers but in order to help make this day a success we require around 40 Parent Volunteers to run the stations for our students. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 11:45am to start setting up stations. Following the event, you will bring all equipment from your station back to the Gym.
If you are interested and available to help with BPS' Last Blast, please e-mail kglachapelle@cbe.ab.ca. If you have a particular sport/activity station you have in mind that you'd like to lead, please add that in your e-mail. A valid Police Clearance must be held in order to volunteer.
Our theme this year is Hawaiian/Beach Day! Please dress the part and come ready to have fun with our students!
Thank you!

Wheel and Walk Week: June 22-26, 2026
Wheel and Walk is a week where students are encouraged to wheel (ride their bikes, scooters, rollerblades etc.) or walk to and from school for an entire week. If wheeling, students must wear a helmet and have a lock. Students will lock their bikes up outside. If there is not enough space at the bike racks, use the fence along the parking lot.
Wheel Parade: The week will be celebrated by a Wheel and Walk Parade on Thursday, June 25th. Students are invited to meet at the Signal Hill Tennis, Pickleball and Basketball Courts (2905 Signal Hill Heights) between 8:00 and 8:05am. We will depart at 8:10am sharp and wheel or walk to school.
Please do not drop your child off at or after 8:10am – there will be no supervision as we will already have left the starting point. If you arrive later than 8:10am, please accompany your child to school.
This event promotes physical activity, heart health, and fosters a sense of community. By reducing the car traffic around the school, it contributes to safer streets. Wheel week aims to instill healthy habits and creates memorable experiences for all involved!
FAQs:
-Do I need a lock for my bike? Yes
-Do I need to wear a helmet on my bike, rollerblades and scooter? Yes
-Do rollerblades count as wheels? Yes – please bring outdoor shoes to wear at recess and lunch.
-What time and where? The Wheel Parade on Thursday, June 25th? 8:10am at the Signal Hill Tennis, Pickleball, and Basketball Courts (2905 Signal Hill Heights)
-Do I have to attend the Wheel Parade? No but we’d love to see you there!
-Does the parade happen after school? The Wheel Parade is just for getting to school in the morning. Families should pick up students from school at the regular dismissal time and make arrangements for their children to bike, scooter, or wheel home.
-What if I take the bus? If your child usually takes the bus but they are going to participate in Wheel, Walk or Run week, please advise the school and driver if they will not be on the bus in the morning of afternoon.
Looking forward to seeing many students taking part next week! Any questions, please e-mail kglachapelle@cbe.ab.ca.
