It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Battalion Park School. We look forward to working collaboratively with you to create a school that welcomes everybody. We will work to challenge and support students to achieve academic success within a culture of safety and respect.

Student agency and intellectual engagement guide our work. We teach our students about how they are connected to their world and how they have the ability to make a difference in their world. Most importantly, our work is framed within a growth mindset where mistakes are learning opportunities, effort and accomplishment go hand-in-hand, and student achievement thrives.

Educating our young people is a job too big for any one of us. We encourage and welcome parents as partners to support the children of Battalion Park School.  We strive to engage our students in learning that is rich with inquiry, life connections, multi-disciplinary experiences, struggle, perseverance, and success. We believe that parents play an important role helping us reach this objective.

About Battalion Park

A well-known landmark in Calgary's west end on the hill above the Westhills Shopping Centre are the white washed stones depicting the battalion numbers of the soldiers who trained in the area during World War I. The name Battalion Park School was chosen by the community to honor the soldiers and to commemorate the historical significance of this training area.

Our School's Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

We are committed to acknowledging and supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action specific to education. Our school, along with all CBE schools, made a Truth and Reconciliation Commitment to Action, on June 21, we renewed our commitment.

School Development Plan

Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report

Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
