Shout Outs

  • Shout-out to our Grade 6 students who do an amazing job with our morning announcements! Your leadership helps everyone stay informed about upcoming events and important school information.
  • Shout-out to our families for keeping the bus zone clear. This helps keep everyone safe and allows students to load and unload the bus smoothly and on time!

Mini Playground Replacement – Important Project Update from SHSES

This month is a major milestone for our Mini Playground Replacement Project at Battalion Park School. Our 25-year-old playground may finally be replaced this summer — and here’s where things stand:

  • We are currently awaiting the outcome of our $125,000 CFEP (Community Facility Enhancement Program) provincial grant application.
  • If we are successful, SHSES will:
    • Finalize our stakeholder agreement with CBE
    • Order the playground equipment by March 16, 2026
    • (Playground equipment requires up to 10 weeks for delivery and up to 8 weeks for demolition and installation.)
  • With an awarded CFEP grant, we will be approximately $67,000 short of our full fundraising goal.
    • If a shortfall remains, we will revise the playground footprint as needed while maintaining sensory, inclusive, and accessible design features.
  • We are actively working to reduce costs through in-kind services such as paving, landscaping, and concrete work.
    • If you or someone you know may be able to help in these areas, we would love to hear from you.
  • If CFEP funding is not awarded, the project will be delayed by another full year and transitioned to future parent volunteers whose children will still be attending the school.

We are hopeful — and there is still important work to be done.
