Extra Clothes

With the warmer weather and melting snow, puddles and muddy areas have formed around the playground. Update from SHSES |  Exciting Playground News / Family Event / Healthy Hunger Orders

Exciting Playground News

We are excited to share that the Signal Hill School Enhancement Society (SHSES) has been awarded a $125,000 Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP – Small) provincial grant toward the Mini Playground Replacement Project. This significant funding milestone means the project can now move forward.

Mini Playground Update

  • We currently have a funding shortfall of approximately $67,000.
  • We are exploring a reduced-footprint design (~5200 sq ft/480m2 to ~4200sq ft / 390m2), the core priorities identified through student, staff, and family surveys remain central to the project:
    • Pour-in-place (PIP) rubber surfacing
    • Smooth, accessible pathways including paved borders on two sides
    • Concrete border around the PIP play surface
    • Wheelchair-accessible and sensory play features
    • Picnic tables, benches, and equipment height
  • Playground equipment must be ordered by March 16 to allow for a summer installation.
  • Fundraising continues — please contact info@shses.ca to learn how you can support this important community project.

Upcoming Community Event

  • We are hosting a family skating party on January 29 at the Signal Hill Community Association rink.
