Elder Shirley
On April 2 & 3, our students and staff had the honour of learning about the Indigenous ways of being, belonging, doing, and knowing with Elder Shirley Hill. During this visit, Elder Shirley shared her gifts of Fancy Shawl Dancing, hoop dancing, and storytelling. We will be posting pictures and student quotes from this amazing experience on our website News Feed next week.
We're Going Swimming!
Just a reminder that swimming lessons at the Glenmore Aquatic Center begin on Monday for afternoon Kindergarten and Grades 4, 5 & 6.
Please:
- DO send your child dressed with their bathing suit underneath their school clothes
- DO send a bag with a towel and underwear for when lessons are complete, this bag will then be used to take home your child’s wet bathing suit (a reuseable bag with long handles can be easier for children to carry over their shoulder and reduce missing bags)
- DO NOT send valuables, including but not limited to jewelry and phones
- DO NOT send a lock
- DO NOT send money to purchase items from the vending machines
School Council
Our next school council meeting is on Wednesday April 17, 2024 at 6:30pm in the Learning Commons. This meeting can also be attended virtually through this link: Join the meeting now. Please note the change in start time.
We encourage all parents to attend as your opinion and feedback are very valuable to us.
Winners of our gift card lucky draw will be contacted Monday, April 15 and will have to attend the meeting in person to receive the card.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

Digital Citizenship and Chat Rooms
We have become aware that some of our students are participating in online chat groups that are leading to inappropriate and sometimes hurtful conversations. We are encouraging families to have a conversation with their children regarding internet safety and appropriate interactions when participating in these chat rooms and ensure they know what to do if something is said that makes them feel bad or uncomfortable. Most online chat rooms require the user to be at least 13 years old.
Thank You from Catherine Nichols Gunn
You may recall our Holiday Donation Drive in December to support Catherine Nichols Gunn School. We have received a lovely ‘Thank You’ acrostic poem from them that you are able to view when you are at the main office in the Core school.
