Shout Outs

  • A big shout-out to Ms. Lachapelle for organizing swimming lessons for all Grade 1-6 students!  This week our Grade 5 & 6 students participated, and we also extend our thanks to their teachers and parent volunteers for ensuring the lessons went swimmingly!
  • Shout-out to our Grade 3 team for organizing the field trip to The Confluence, where students explored artifacts from the past and learned more about the people who have called this land home over the years.  We also extend our thanks to the parent volunteers who supported the trip and helped make this experience possible.

Good Friday | School Closed

The school will be closed on Friday, April 3rd for Good Friday.  Classes will resume on Monday, April 6th.

 AHS Outbreak Lifted

On March 17, Alberta Health Services declared Battalion Park School to be in a Respiratory Illness Outbreak. During this time, daily attendance was closely monitored by our office and AHS. On April 1, the CDC Outbreak Team at Alberta Health Services confirmed that the outbreak had officially ended.

We would like to thank all families and students for their diligence in practicing proper hygiene and staying home when sick. We encourage everyone to continue following good respiratory hygiene practices to help prevent future outbreaks.

To help minimize the spread of any respiratory illness, AHS recommends the following:

  • Ill children/students should stay home.  Children who are ill with respiratory symptoms should remain away from the school until their symptoms have improved and they have been free of fever for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
  • Perform hand hygiene frequently by washing hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Practice respiratory hygiene:
    • Cough and sneeze into sleeves, or
    • Cover mouths and noses with a tissue when coughing or sneezing
    • Throw away used tissues immediately after sneezing, coughing, or wiping noses.
  • Clean surfaces that are frequently touched such as doorknobs, light switches, and bathroom taps.

CBE Student Survey – Grade 5 & 6

Next week, April 6-10, students in grades five and six will be will be participating in an online school perception survey called the CBE Student Survey.  This survey will take place at school during the learning day.

About the CBE Student Survey

  • Allows students to voice their feedback on their experiences at school, the school environment and school improvement programs.
  • Based on their feedback, students have the opportunity to be involved in action plans fostering increased student engagement.
  • The survey should take about 60 to 80 minutes to complete.

The CBE Student Survey is an opportunity for students to:

  • report on themselves, their own abilities, and their accomplishments; and
  • take pride in what they have achieved.

In alignment with CBE’s Education Plan, the results are used in school and district reports to demonstrate that students are:

  • at the centre of all CBE decisions;
  • able to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies they are acquiring across all academic disciplines; and
  • demonstrating Citizenship, Personal Development and Character in and through learning.

If you have questions or would like to request more information about the upcoming implementation of the CBE Student Survey, please contact the school principal Christina Tuttle cmtuttle@cbe.ab.ca.
