Feb. 5-9 Update | Staffing, School Ground Conditions, Finger Knitting, Surveys

Staffing Updates

We are happy to welcome back Ms. Ho from her Maternity leave. Music classes for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 resumed on February 1.

We are also pleased to announce that Mrs. Kounougeris will be joining us as a literacy and numeracy support teacher for the remainder of the year.

School Ground Conditions

You may have had a child come home very wet or muddy this past week. With the warm weather, we have experienced a combination of many icy patches in the morning followed by very wet and muddy areas in the afternoon. We are keeping a close eye on the ground conditions, responding as required, and making announcements to remind children to be careful outside. Please encourage your child to be cautious when they are walking and playing on school grounds to reduce their risk of slips and falls. Thank you for your support!

Finger Knitting Club Needs Your Help

This month, the Grade 4 teachers will be leading a lunchtime club on the art of finger knitting for Grade 4, 5, and 6 students.

They are looking for any donations of unneeded/extra balls of yarn that you may have around your home. Different colours and thickness of yarns are welcome.

If you have any yarn that you would like to donate, please drop it off at the either the Core or Mini offices over the next week. We appreciate your support of this club for BPS students!

Student Surveys

Next week, our Division 2 students will be completing surveys to provide information to Alberta Education and the CBE. Students in Grade 4 will be completing the Alberta Education Assurance Survey. Students in Grades 5 & 6 will be completing the CBE Student Survey. Parents of students in these grades were sent an email today detailing the specifics of these surveys. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have a grade 4, 5 or 6 student but didn’t receive this email.

While there were mixed Groundhog Day predictions across Canada, it looks like the prediction for the Calgary area is for 6 more weeks of winter. Let’s hope it’s more like the last two weeks rather than the cold snap we went through earlier! Have a great weekend!
