Reporting Attendance – We Need Your Help

We would like to remind parents and guardians to email the school at battalionpark@cbe.ab.ca or call the attendance line at 403-777-7187 if your child is going to be away or late. During the recent cold weather period, the office staff has had to spend the majority of the morning calling families who have not reported their child's absence or late arrival, which impacts their ability to complete all other office tasks in a timely manner. Alberta Health Services Child and Youth Well-Being Family & Caregiver Series

The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join us in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions will be hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Services.

The next two sessions are:

Brain Development in Adolescence

January 18 – 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Teen brains are unique from those of adults.  Learn how these developmental differences may impact your teen's decision-making, risk-taking, motivation and learning. The implications of social media, substance use and relationships are also different for teens.  Understanding this stage of development gives us clues as caregivers on how to best respond and support healthy growth.

Mental Health & Anxiety Kindergarten – Grade 6

February 8 – 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health concerns affecting children and families across the lifespan. Parents and schools play an essential role in helping children manage their anxiety. This session will explore what anxiety and stress are, how to recognize it, and how to support K-6 children to increase resilience.
