Wheel, Walk and Run to School Week
Wheel, Walk or Run Week is a week where students are encouraged to ride their bikes, scooters, rollerblades, walk or run to and from school for an entire week.
The Week will be kicked off by a Wheel Parade on Monday, June 17. Students are invited to meet at the Signal Hill Community Rink at 8:30am to wheel around. At 8:40am, students will walk their wheels to school, lock them up appropriately and head to class.
Students must wear a helmet and have a lock. Students will lock their bikes up outside. If there is not enough space at the bike racks, use the fence along the parking lot.
This event promotes physical activity, heart health, and fosters a sense of community. By reducing the car traffic around the school, it contributes to safer streets. Wheel Week aims to instill healthy habits and creates memorable experiences for all involved!
Jump Rope for Heart in Support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation
As we head into the summer months, Battalion Park Students will be participating in learning activities that promote Heart Healthy Habits and physical activities that can be experienced during the summer break from home. As a Jump Rope for Heart School, we have the opportunity to help fundraise for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Please read this letter to learn more about supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Our school’s Jump Rope for Heart page can be found here. All students will be entered into a draw to win prizes donated by the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We will celebrate our month of Heart Healthy Habits in correlation with our Sports and Activity Day on June 24.
BPS Drama Club Presentation of the Wizard of Oz
Our Grade 5 & 6 members of the BPS Drama Club presented the production “The Wizard of Oz” in Ernest Manning School’s Performance Theatre on Monday, June 10. This play was initiated by one of our Grade 6 students and quickly became a team activity run by the students, with Ms. Ho as the teacher sponsor. The Drama Club worked for over three months during their lunch hours rehearsing and creating props. Families of the performers and the Grades 4, 5, & 6 students were invited to attend. A former student of Battalion Park who now attends Ernest Manning provided support with the lighting and sound. The students did a great job and it was a wonderful collaboration with the high school that we hope to keep going for years to come!
