Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

Today we renewed our school commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action. During the 2023-24 school year, we embedded the Holisitic Lifelong Learning Framework with the school learning community throughout the seasons, Building on this work, we are focussing on the following two actions for the 2024-25 school year:

Heart - To Belong: Identify places across curriculum where Indigenous ways of being, belonging, doing and knowing can be weaved in and then design learning tasks.

Body - To Do: Work with and learn from Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, artists etc., to learn about and engage in Indigenous arts, singing, dancing and cultural practices in culturally relevant and meaningful ways.

Please see our website for a copy of our commitment.

Wheel, Walk and Run Week

We were so pleased with the number of children who wheeled, walked or ran to school this week. We had such a good turn out to our wheel parade on Monday, that Ms. Lachapelle hosted another parade on Friday! We will definitely be having another Wheel, Walk and Run Week next year!

Sports and Activity Day

Monday, June 24 is Sports and Activity Day. These activities will be taking place outside in the afternoon. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather, has sunscreen, bug spray and a water bottle. Thank you to all of the volunteers who are helping us run our stations and ensuring this day is a success!

Jump Rope for Heart in Support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation

We will wrap up our fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation with our Sports and Activity Day on Monday. All students will be entered into a draw to win prizes donated by the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Please read this letter to learn more about supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Our school’s Jump Rope for Heart page can be found here.

Spirit Days

Grade 5 classes are hosting our final spirit days of the year. We are looking forward to some fun days to end the school year next week. Please refer to the dates below for the specific daily activities.

REMINDER: Student Council Book Drive on June 25

Our Student Council is hosting a book drive on June 25 to provide all students with an opportunity to exchange books they have read for new books, and have some new reading material for the summer.

Students can bring in books they wish to trade in on June 25. A Grade 5 or 6 member of the Student Council will record how many books each student brings in then that student will get to select a corresponding number of new books. For example, if a student brings in 3 books they will be able to select 3 new books.

Any books leftover by the end of the day will be donated.

It will be so exciting for students to know that their books will bring joy to someone else.

Thank you,

Student Council Members

Grade 6 Farewell

We are excited to be sending our Grade 6 students off on their new adventures in Junior High School and Middle School. The Grade 6 students and their families are celebrating their farewell on Wednesday afternoon. You might see them flying their custom-made kites on the hill beside the school as you arrive for after school pick-up or celebrating in the field after school. An ice cream truck will be onsite after school for any students wishing to purchase.
