We extend our thanks to all the parents who took the time to take our short survey during the Parent Teacher Conferences.

Traffic and Parking Follow-Up
Thank you to everyone who has helped us with the new stopping and parking procedures in front of the mini. All of our buses are able to be accommodated. We appreciate all of your support!
We continue to have quite a few illegal u-turns in front of both buildings as well as a lot of jay-walking. We also recently had a very dangerous situation where a vehicle drove off the road and onto the sidewalk in front of the school while several people were in the vicinity. In addition, we have been contacted by residents in adjacent streets who have reported cars blocking their driveways at pick-up and drop-off times.
Please follow the rules of the road.
AMA Safety Patrols and Kiss and Drop Programs
We have had queries regarding the AMA Safety Patrol and Kiss and Drop programs that were previously in place at Battalion Park School.
The AMA Safety Patrol program has student patrollers stand at crosswalks with stop signs to assist with crossing the road. The AMA Safety Patrol program was paused in 2020 during the pandemic and has not resumed at Battalion Park School. With our soft start entry and after school exit duties, we no longer have an available staff member to supervise patrollers in the morning and after school. In addition, the teacher supervisors of the program prior to the pause reported that there were several incidents of drivers not following the rules of the road which was dangerous for the children who were performing safety patrol duties. As we discussed above, following the rules of the road continues to be a concern around the school so we rely on parents to help their children cross the road safely at the crosswalks.
The Kiss and Drop program was parent-led. A drop-off lane was created using pylons and cars pulled in briefly to drop off children and then quickly exit. This required parent volunteers to set-up, monitor children getting out of vehicles, keep vehicles moving quickly through the lane and take-down pylons and signs each morning. We are happy to help facilitate this program again if we have a group of parents who would be committed to take this on. Please contact the School Council at volunteersbps@gmail.com if you would be interested in participating in this initiative.
