Shout Outs

  • A big thank you to our families for your continued support in keeping children home when they are feeling unwell. Your care helps keep our entire school community healthy and able to learn together, this truly makes a difference.
  • A special shout-out to our music teacher Mrs. Ho and the students for their creativity and flexibility in pivoting to a video musical production.
  • Thank you to our incredible staff for coming together this week to support students and ensure learning continued seamlessly. Your willingness to welcome students from other classes during staffing shortages reflects the strong sense of teamwork and care that defines our school.

Music and Physical Education Updates

Mrs. Ho, our music teacher, had her final day with students yesterday and will begin her maternity leave on March 30. We are grateful for her dedication and the joy she has brought to our school through music. Due to this transition, we were not able to reschedule the Spring Concert to a later date.  Music classes have now concluded for the remainder of the school year.

We are pleased to welcome Ms. Myrna Ivison to our teaching team.  She will be teaching PE parttime alongside Mrs. Lachapelle.

Spring Break – School Closed (March 23 – 27)

It has been an exciting time around the school as the weather begins to warm and the first signs of spring appear. We would like to wish all of our families a happy and enjoyable Spring Break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back when school resumes on Monday, March 30.

FREE | Childhood Unplugged Event - April 22, 2026

Screens are everywhere – in our homes, schools, and pockets. Many parents and educators are asking the same question: How do we help children find balance in a digital world?

Join us for a conversation inspired by Katherine Johnson Martinko’s book Childhood Unplugged: Practical Advice to Get Kids Off Screens and Find Balance, which offers practical guidance for helping children spend less time on screens and more time reading, playing, and exploring the world around them.

This event will feature a keynote presentation by the author, followed by a panel discussion with local experts who will share insights, research, and realistic strategies to help families navigate screen use in today’s digital environment.

The first 200 guests through the door receive a free copy of Katherine Johnson Martinko's book.

Whether you’re a parent, educator, caregiver, or community member, together we’ll explore how small changes can help create a childhood that is richer in reading, creativity, and real-world connection.

SHSES Update

A big thank you to the families who contributed snacks, treats, and beverages to support our teachers during Learning Conferences last week. After a full day of teaching, these evening meetings can be long, and your generosity makes a real difference. Thanks to our amazing community, there were even leftovers to support Friday’s staff meeting!

We also loved connecting with families and students at the playground display in the Core building on Thursday. It was exciting to see students’ reactions to the fundraising progress and the final colour selections for the new playground.

We’re also happy to share that the CBE has confirmed the demolition date for the Mini Playground. Beginning Monday, June 29, we will officially say goodbye to the current structure as we prepare for its replacement.

To help reduce project costs and allow us to include more play and access features, we are planning a community volunteer build, tentatively scheduled for the last week of July / early August.

Please consider signing up to participate — and let us know if your employer offers team-building opportunities, sponsorships, or corporate volunteer programs that Parks Foundation Calgary could connect with.

Thank you for continuing to support the students and school community at Battalion Park!

Have an amazing March break!
