Student Council Initiative
The Student Council has decided on collecting dried up markers, pens and mechanical pencils that are no longer usable to be recycled. It is a fun way to get students involved with helping the Earth. Please encourage your children to recycle these plastics by placing them in the collection boxes in either the Core or the Mini, so they can be made into new things like grocery bags, backpacks and water bottles!
Thank you,
From Grade 6 Student Council Members
Library Books
There has been an increase in damage to our library books over the year. Despite reminders as the students check books out, they are still coming back damaged.
Some of the damage we are seeing:
- Food/sticky substances on book covers
- Food bits inside books
- Dirt on the cover and on the edge of the book
- Liquid damage
- Small rips on the bottom of pages
- Bent covers
- Bent page corners
- Bulky erasers or pencils inside books to save their page–which leaves a permanent crease in the book
- Whole pages ripped out
In the last few weeks, 24 books have come back damaged. Some of these are new books that have only been checked out 1 or 2 times.
We are asking you to please talk to your child(ren) about how to take care of our books so that they can be enjoyed by many children.
