Local Resident and Calgary Transit Traffic and Parking Concerns
We have received a number of complaints from parents and guardians of our school community and our school neighbours regarding vehicles illegally making u-turns, stopping/parking in front of school neighbour driveways and children running across the street to get back and forth to school.
In addition, CBE has received a complaint from Calgary Transit regarding parents/guardians stopping/parking in the Calgary Transit stop by our school, especially during the PM peak times. It is of vital importance that the stop is clear in order for CTS to access this space.
When the Transit bus cannot access the stop:
- the bus will double park to pick up/drop off riders, blocking all traffic
- riders will have to walk into the street to get to and from the bus, putting them at risk
- riders with mobility issues have extreme difficulty accessing the bus without the bus being right at the curb and unable to “kneel” down for easier access.
Please be considerate and follow traffic and parking rules to increase student safety and out of respect for Calgary Transit and community members near our school.
