Spirit Day

Thank you to all those students who participated in Battalion Park School's first spirit day – Dot Day. We had lots of people wearing dots today!

Terry Fox 2024: Kick Off and Run

Today we had our Terry Fox Kick Off assembly! Students learned and reviewed who Terry Fox is and why he is a Canadian Hero. It was so wonderful seeing all our students gathered together in the Gym and celebrate the amazing legacy Terry has left.

On September 20, 2024 at 11:45am until 12:15pm students will be taking part in our Battalion Park Terry Fox Run. We are so excited to see all our students running together, working towards their goal and running for a person or cause of their choice. We are looking for 10 volunteers to be a 'Course Marshall' to help guide and cheer students on through the race! If you'd like to volunteer, please e-mail me kglachapelle@cbe.ab.ca. As a Course Marshall, you do not require a Police Information Clearance.

Finally, our school has a fundraising page. If you would like to donate money to the Terry Fox Foundation in support of cancer research through our school page, please visit this link:  https://schools.terryfox.ca/72313

REMINDER - School Spirit Wear

The School Council is excited to be offering a variety of clothing items for purchase through their new online store until Monday, September 23, 2024.

Emergency Drills

We had a very successful first Fire Drill practice on Monday morning. The children did a good job evacuating and then re-entering the school in a quiet manner which is very helpful should there ever be an actual emergency.

Battalion Park School Digital Citizenship Acceptable Use Policy

The Battalion Park School Digital Citizenship Acceptable Use Policy agreement is part of the CBE Digital Citizenship Process to access electronic resources to support learning thoughout the year. Students will be reviewing the Digital Citizenship Acceptable Use Policy with their teachers and all students must agree to be compliant with Administrative Regulation 1062: Use of Electronic Resources.
Students will be bringing this document home to be signed by parents once their teachers have reviewed it with them. Students and parents are required to sign and return in order for the student access to electronic resources. Thank you for your support to ensure that student use of electronic resources is respectful and responsible.

If you are able to help us out or would like to know more about these positions please contact chair@bpschoolcouncil.ca.

Signal Hill School Enhancement Society (SHSES)

New Playgrounds Update: Both the Mini and Core playgrounds have been identified as reaching or near end of life and must be replaced soon. The Mini playground reaches it’s end of life first so it is the focus at this time. The SHSES is tasked with fundraising to replace the playgrounds and is looking for volunteers to continue moving this project forward; this involves writing grants, contacting donors and a communications team. Please consider any way you can help, many hands doing small tasks can go a long way to help ensure our children have a playground to replace our current one.

The Society also has three positions open: Vice President, Secretary, and Playground Committee member.

If you are interested in helping with either the playground or joining the SHSES, please email info@shses.ca or visit our website at www.shses.ca for more information.
